What does 2 Samuel 7:18–29 reveal about who God the Father is?
The Lord is God; he is David’s Master. God is involved in history; he is the one who brought David onto the throne. God speaks; he makes promises to David regarding what will happen also in the future. God is sovereign; he acts in accordance with his pleasure to accomplish his will. God is worthy of service; David is his servant. God knows the heart and mind of his servants. He is great and incomparable. He redeems a people of his own choosing for his own glory. God is the Lord of hosts. He gives blessing to his people, and his blessing results in human flourishing.
