By keeping his promise to David the Lord's name will be honoured.1 The Lord will thereby demonstrate his faithfulness and difference from pagan gods (by making and keeping a promise),2 as well as his commitment to Israel (the people who benefit from the work of the Messiah. With the coming of the Messiah, the house of David will also be established forever since the Messiah is the one who will fulfill both the Mosaic and Abrahamic covenant,3 thereby earning the right to an eternal throne (2 Samuel 7:13).
26 And your name will be magnified forever, saying, ‘The LORD of hosts is God over Israel,’ and the house of your servant David will be established before you.
