How are all individual Christians one body in Christ?

Romans 12:4–5 (ESV)

In Romans 12:4–5 Paul addresses the importance of Christian fellowship. Christians are not isolated individuals, but rather transformed by God into one body in Christ. Through faith we are all being incorporated in Christ and thus with and through him we become one body: For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another (Romans 12:4–5). Once we have encountered one another through faith in Christ, we simply cannot let go of each other again. We become each other’s hands and feet, with each member responsible to serve others. Faith becomes the standard for Christian fellowship.1
