What does the word “send” mean?

Nehemiah 2:5 (ESV)

5 And I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, that you send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ graves, that I may rebuild it.”

With the term send Nehemiah makes clear that he desires far more than a leave of absence from his duties in the palace. Nehemiah seeks a commission from the king, a mandate complete with royal authority.
