What do we know about Adonijah?

2 Samuel 3:4 (ESV)

4 and the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;

Adonijah means the Lord is Lord or my Lord is the Lord.1 At the time of David’s death, Adonijah was the oldest living son, and he tried his best to seize the throne from Solomon (1 Kings 1:5–2:25).
