This is the only mention of Kileab in the Bible. He is probably also called Daniel in 1 Chronicles 3:1.1 The name itself (Kileab) could mean Restraint of the father,
possibly an allusion to Abigail restraining David from violence (see 1 Samuel 25:1–44). 2 It is assumed that he died at a young age so that he was not around to enter the fray to determine David’s successor as king.3
