How far was the journey back to Hebron?

2 Samuel 2:32 (ESV)

32 And they took up Asahel and buried him in the tomb of his father, which was at Bethlehem. And Joab and his men marched all night, and the day broke upon them at Hebron.

Hebron would have been more than thirty kilometres to the southwest.1 Arriving at daybreak suggests that hope for change lay with the king who ruled at Hebron.2
