Elihu portrays God as Eliphaz had portrayed him (Job 22:2–3): distant and unaffected by human actions. This is not how God reveals himself in the Bible, however. God is grieved by sin (Genesis 6:6) and he rejoices over repentance (Isaiah 62:5; Luke 15:7, Luke 15:10).
6 If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against him? And if your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?
