1. Acts 14:26 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What does it mean for Paul and Barnabas to have been commended to the grace of God?

Acts 14:26 (ESV)

26 and from there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had fulfilled.

The grace of God refers to his protective care (see Acts 15:40; Acts 20:32) and his enabling for ministry (Acts 4:33; Acts 6:8).1 Paul and Barnabas were entrusted to the care of God on their journey, also with the understanding that the conversions of Jews and Gentiles, as well as the establishment of the church, is ultimately the result of God’s grace.2
