In Romans 8:25 we read that if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
This passage points to the fact faith gives a face to our smouldering expectation of a better future. Faith effectuates perseverance in that the Holy Spirit who works this faith also provides us with a hopeful expectation of what is not yet visible in our human world with all its suffering.1
25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
