How does hoping in what we do not see effectuate patience?

Romans 8:25 (ESV)

25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

In Romans 8:25 we read that if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. This passage points to the fact faith gives a face to our smouldering expectation of a better future. Faith effectuates perseverance in that the Holy Spirit who works this faith also provides us with a hopeful expectation of what is not yet visible in our human world with all its suffering.1
