How was creation subjected to futility?

Romans 8:20 (ESV)

20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope

The world is not radiant now as it will be in future glory, because creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it (Romans 8:20). It is death that thwarts everything and therefore causes the futility of the present time, as is clearly expressed in the book Ecclesiastes. Creation, however, was designed for life and vitality. Its degeneration is not caused willingly (Gieniusz1 translates is a bit different, it is not her fault), for it is full of vitality. But because of death entering the world through sin, everything always dies.2
