In Romans 5:15 Paul compares the trespass
of the first Adam with grace
of the Second Adam. He personifies these concepts by using the singular form when referring to them. Sin entered in the world the moment that first trespass occurred in paradise (Romans 5:12, Romans 5:15), thereby impoverishing us unto death. The judgment over the one (Adam) led to the condemnation of many. The gift of grace,
however, counters the effects of this sin and showers people with an abundance of favour.1
15 But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.
