Matthew 24:34 (ESV)

34 Truly, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place.

Elsewhere in Matthew’s gospel, the reference to this generation refers to the people of Jesus’ own time (Matthew 11:16; Matthew 12:39–45; Matthew 23:36), those who were alive when he ministered on earth.1
