When will false prophets appear?

Matthew 24:11 (ESV)

11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.

False prophets are Jewish opponents in Jesus’ day and false teachers in Matthew’s time.1 They will seek to turn people away from Christ through deceptive means (see 1 Timothy 1:4–7; 2 Timothy 3:1–5) and will be a continuous plague on the church until the day when the Messiah comes again in glory.
