Eternal life refers to life which overcomes death. Such life is granted by God to the righteous and it is linked with the notion of bodily resurrection and being in the presence of God (see Daniel 12:2; Isaiah 65:17–25).1 Gentiles who come to faith thereby show that they were destined for eternal life and chosen by God to be part of his people.2 God is sovereignly working to bring his elect to faith in Jesus Christ and add them to his church.
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.
