What happened during a typical synagogue meeting on the Sabbath?

Acts 13:15 (ESV)

15 After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent a message to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, say it.”

Synagogue services would typically include a reading from the Law and the Prophets, followed by a brief sermon. There would also be prayers that are said at the beginning and conclusion of the service, along with the singing of Psalms.
