What is Pisidian Antioch?

Acts 13:14 (ESV)

14 but they went on from Perga and came to Antioch in Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down.

Pisidian Antioch refers to the city called Antioch located in Pisidia.1 This Antioch must be distinguished from the Antioch in Syria from which Paul and Barnabas were sent (Acts 13:1–4). There were sixteen (16) towns/cities called Antioch in the ancient world.2 They were established by Seleuces I with the aim of promoting Greek culture.3
