Mark 1:8 is the verse which is being quoted by Peter.1 Jesus brings the fulfilment of God’s promises regarding the Spirit of prophecy (Joel 2:28–32), who falls upon those from a Jewish background as well as a Gentile background.2 Reception of the Spirit is thus to be understood as baptism with the Spirit.3
