Yes, man is able to find all the hidden treasures of the earth. But he does not know where to find wisdom
and understanding.
The wisdom that Job refers to is not the wisdom of everyday living (as is taught in the book of Proverbs). Job speaks of that wisdom whereby God’s counsel can be understood. It is the wisdom that sees and knows all things, including the reasons for suffering.
This is a beautiful confession, in which Job reminds himself and his friends that their knowledge is severely limited.
