1. Acts 10:41 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why is it so important to emphasize that Jesus ate and drank with the apostles after his resurrection?

Acts 10:41 (ESV)

41 not to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as witnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

Greeks and Romans (Gentiles) did not believe in a bodily resurrection of the dead, thus there is a need for more clarification from Peter.1 Jesus was seen by other people in addition to the apostles ((Luke 24:33; 1 Corinthians 15:5–9); he also ate meals with them (Luke 24:30–35; Luke 24:36–43; Acts 1:1–4; John 21:1–25). These facts serve to underline the reality of the resurrection.2
