What does it mean for Jesus to be raised on the third day and caused to be seen?

Acts 10:40 (ESV)

40 but God raised him on the third day and made him to appear,

In accordance with inclusive Jewish counting, if Jesus died on the Friday and he was raised on the Sunday then he was raised on the third day. This event took place in time and history; Peter and the other apostles saw Jesus in the flesh.
