Jesus was publicly anointed with the Holy Spirit at his baptism, a testimony to the fact that he is the Messiah (see Luke 3:21–23). From this moment onwards the Spirit equipped and strengthened him to do the work of ministry to which God had called him. His actions demonstrated the arrival of the kingdom of God in power.1
