1. Acts 10:22 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Are there any particular details of interest in the men’s reply?

Acts 10:22 (ESV)

22 And they said, “Cornelius, a centurion, an upright and God-fearing man, who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.”

The men repeat much of what we know, that has already happened (Acts 10:1–8). One additional detail which they mention is the fact that Cornelius was respected by all the Jewish people. This is evidence that he was actively involved at the synagogue in Caesarea, and known to be supportive of Jewish interests.1
