Who are the servants and the soldier that Cornelius sends?

Acts 10:7 (ESV)

7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, he called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among those who attended him,

Servants were members of the household. Households in the time of the New Testament were broad social units that included immediate family and even slaves.1 A soldier was someone in Cornelius’ company. The solder is said to be devout, implying that he, also, was God-fearing just like Cornelius.2
