It is natural to understand that Ananias was the one who baptized Saul.1 Quite possibly this was done in the River Abana to the north of the city or in a Jewish bath.2 While we do not have biblical testimony to confirm that he was formally ordained as an office-bearer in the church, we do have testimony that he was called by God to do a particular task. He had to bring God’s Word to Saul and baptize him.
18 And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized;
