Why is Saul’s name repeated twice?

Acts 9:4 (ESV)

4 And falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”

A voice speaking from the light recalls God’s revelation to Moses (Exodus 3:3; Exodus 19:16–20). The twofold repetition of Saul’s name makes it clear that he is being addressed and recalls the prophetic calls of Moses and Samuel.1
