How far was the journey to Damascus?

Acts 9:3 (ESV)

3 Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him.

Travelling from Jerusalem it was roughly 220 kilometres to Damascus.1 This was a significant journey if you go on foot and thus it is assumed that Saul travelled on horseback.
