Exodus 6:6 (ESV)

6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment.

God is the only One who saves. There is no other god who does something like this. In Deuteronomy 4:34–35 we read, To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him. Later, God says to Israel in exile, I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no saviour (Isaiah 43:11).

In the New Testament this is being said about Jesus. God’s personal name Yahweh (Lord) is used in the Old Testament over 6,000 times. In the New Testament, the work of the Lord is continued in and through Jesus Christ when he was on earth. What is said of God is said of Jesus. He, after all, is God, according to John 1:1. Salvation only comes through the name of Jesus (Acts 4:12). The prophets already bore witness to this (see Acts 10:43).
