Exodus 6:6 (ESV)

6 Say therefore to the people of Israel, ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from slavery to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great acts of judgment.

Jesus takes the burden from us: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28).

He liberates us from the slavery of sin. John 8:34–36 says, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin….  So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.

We have been ransomed from the aimless life, not with gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ (1 Peter 1:18–19). God has taken us to be his people (1 Peter 2:9).
