1. Jeremiah 15:18 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why does Jeremiah ask why the Lord refuses to heal his wounds?

Jeremiah 15:18 (ESV)

18 Why is my pain unceasing, my wound incurable, refusing to be healed? Will you be to me like a deceitful brook, like waters that fail?

Jeremiah’s complaint continues as he expresses the inner turmoil he feels. The words pain, and wound refer to mental anguish, not physical wounds.1 He is struggling with the fact that he must experience such relentless anguish, without any relief from the Lord, simply because he is the Lord’s prophet.
