1. Jeremiah 10:13 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Whose voice causes tumult of waters, makes the mist rise, lightning for the rain and brings forth winds?

Jeremiah 10:13 (ESV)

13 When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.

The Lord is not just the creator of everything, but he rules over it as King. The powerful forces of a thunderstorm are controlled and mastered by the Lord. He causes the heavy rains with his voice; he makes the mist rise; he causes the lightening and the wind. These are not merely natural phenomena, nor are they the work of gods like the Baals, but they are all the work of the Lord who created them and who controls them.1
