1. Jeremiah 10:6 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Why is there none like the Lord?

Jeremiah 10:6 (ESV)

6 There is none like you, O LORD; you are great, and your name is great in might.

Having revealed the utter foolishness of worshipping man-made gods, Jeremiah now speaks of the Lord. He stands above them all as unique, There is none like you O Lord. Unlike the powerless idols, the Lord is great and his name is great in might. You are great refers to every aspect of the Lord’s being and character. Your name is great is almost a technical term that refers to divine omnipotence.1 The Lord is not just powerful, he is the source of all power and is the greatest power of all.
