Why will Jeremiah take up weeping and wailing for the mountains, the pastures, the cattle, the beasts, and the birds of the air?
Jeremiah continues his lament with his own personal words expressing his anguish at the widespread destruction that is coming to the land when the Lord sends the enemy from the north. The destruction is so comprehensive that even the marginal land such as the mountains and the pastures of the wilderness will be destroyed.1 The covenant curse is truly coming to Judah.
