The nation of Judah claims to be wise because they have some written form of the law of the Lord. The Lord, however, questions this claim to wisdom. The mere possession of the law does not make them wise if they read the law in a way that ignored the spoken word of his prophet. They had a false sense of wisdom in their own understanding of the law which is indeed no wisdom at all.1
