Commentary on Job 23:6 (Summary)

Job 23:6 (ESV)

6 Would he contend with me in the greatness of his power? No; he would pay attention to me.

Job had earlier been afraid of facing God’s power (Job 9:15–20, Job 9:32–35). Yet his trust in God has now gained the upper hand over his fear. By now he feels sure that God is his advocate (Job 16:19) and his Redeemer (Job 19:25). He can no longer imagine that God will oppose and crush him.
