Who is Melchizedek?

Hebrews 5:6 (ESV)

6 as he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”

Melchizedek is the first priest mentioned in the Bible, the archetype of every priesthood. This priest is king at the same time. He holds two responsibilities, being king of Salem and being priest of the most high God.1
