Why must no one go out into the field nor walk on the road?

Jeremiah 6:25 (ESV)

25 Go not out into the field, nor walk on the road, for the enemy has a sword; terror is on every side.

There is no call to prepare the city for invasion. Instead, there is simply the warning that no one must go out into the field or walk on the road. There must be no movement outside of the fortified areas of the city.1 The enemy has a sword which means that there is terror on every side.
