The Lord speaks again in response to Jeremiah’s frustration at Judah’s stubbornness. He exhorts Jeremiah to complete the task he has been given. The time for holding it in is over. The Lord’s judgment must be poured out on everyone, regardless of age or sex. What this means for Jeremiah is that he must continue to speak his message of warning to children, young men, older men and women, and even the aged. This is not a very encouraging instruction for Jeremiah, because it is exactly what he has been doing and his warning has simply fallen on deaf ears (Jeremiah 6:10). But the message must be proclaimed regardless of how the people respond.1
