Why is his tent suddenly laid waste?

Jeremiah 4:20 (ESV)

20 Crash follows hard on crash; the whole land is laid waste. Suddenly my tents are laid waste, my curtains in a moment.

Jeremiah is himself caught up in the very disaster he has seen in his vision and which he has called upon the land in the Lord’s name.1 When he says that my tents are laid waste, my curtains in a moment, he is probably not referring to his literal tent, but rather expressing how defenceless he feels in the face of what is about to happen in Judah.2
