Why does Jesus talk of worrying and length of life?

Matthew 6:27 (ESV)

27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Jesus affirms that anxiety does not add to one’s lifespan. In essence, it does not do you any good to worry.1 Worrying does not bring about any change in your circumstances; it simply serves to make you more anxious and miserable.2
