What do the two terms "gifts and sacrifices" indicate?
The dual terms gifts and sacrifices
can indicate a distinction between two kinds of gifts: gifts without the slaughter of an animal (food sacrifices prescribed in Leviticus 6:14–18) and sacrifices with slaughter (Exodus 29:38–42; Numbers 28:3–6). It can also be a dual indication for one thing:1,2 sacrificial gifts (te kai, provides both distinction and connectivity). The latter is most likely.3
1 For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins.
