The kingdom in view is a reference not only to life in this world but also to life in the new creation. The focus is on the day when God’s kingdom will be all in all, when there will be no rebels and no evil. The believer longs for this kingdom to come.1 With an eye to the future, the believer nevertheless also asks God to grow his kingdom in the present. He wants to see more and more people recognize Christ as King and submit to him in their daily living. He wishes to see the church of Jesus Christ grow in number.2
10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
