Bond with the triune God

1 Peter 5:14 (ESV)

14 Greet one another with the kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.

Words and deeds of encouragement that focus on the horizontal bond between believers are helpful, appreciated, and necessary. But an acknowledgement of the vertical bond the Christian has with the triune God is ultimately of greater comfort and help. Human help is weak and passing; God’s grace is eternal.
