How will the land experience rest after the judgment of God?

Leviticus 26:34 (ESV)

34 “Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths as long as it lies desolate, while you are in your enemies’ land; then the land shall rest, and enjoy its Sabbaths.

The land will rest because the people have been sent into exile. There is no one to cultivate the land or take advantage of it. In this way the land is purified and is given the opportunity to recover. The phrase, The land…shall enjoy its Sabbaths, is unique. The verb is normally used for God or man. Here, the land itself is personified.
