25 “If your brother becomes poor and sells part of his property, then his nearest redeemer shall come and redeem what his brother has sold.

Leviticus 25:25 outlines a scenario where a Hebrew has become so poor that they needed to sell their property. The rare Hebrew word poor (mwk) literally means, to become impoverished. In this context, the original owner, or his family, retained the right to redeem the land.
