Having spoken to the priests, the Lord now turn to the high priest. He is subject to even great degrees of strictness because he is set apart even from other priests. The high priest was the one who mediated in the sanctuary; he entered into the most holy place; he had the special service of anointing (Leviticus 8:12); and he wore unique clothing (Leviticus 8:6–9).
10 “The priest who is chief among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil is poured and who has been consecrated to wear the garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose nor tear his clothes.
