Leviticus 19:5 now turns to the sacrificial system. Its inclusion at this point may initially appear puzzling, but it does demonstrate that every area of life is touched by the holiness of God. The sacrifice reflects the role of the individual Israelite given in Leviticus 3:1-17. The Lord requires that the sacrifice be carried out in a specific way. These laws are different from Leviticus 7:1-38, which were directed to the priests.
