Where was the goat taken after the sins of the nation were laid upon it?
Leviticus 16:21 (ESV)
21And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the live goat, and confess over it all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins. And he shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.
Once the work of the high priest was complete, he hands the goat over to a man who is in readiness. This refers to someone who has been set aside for the task. He is required to take the scapegoat into the wilderness.
