Why did Joshua take the kings down from the trees at sunset?
Joshua 10:27 (ESV)
27But at the time of the going down of the sun, Joshua commanded, and they took them down from the treesand threw them into the cave where they had hidden themselves, and they set large stones against the mouth of the cave, which remain to this very day.
The body was removed at sundown in accordance with the Mosaic law (Deuteronomy 21:22–23) in order to ensure that the land was not polluted or became unclean.
