1. Judges 18:25 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

What is ironic about the use of the term “angry fellows"?

Judges 18:25 (ESV)

25 And the people of Dan said to him, “Do not let your voice be heard among us, lest angry fellows fall upon you, and you lose your life with the lives of your household.”

The term angry fellows is used to intimidate Micah to immediately back away. But in an ironic way, it is a fitting description of the Danites. They are savages, whose threats to Micah and his household confirm this. Any right-minded person who is the object of such threats would move out of the way.1
